Frequently asked questions.

  • Dr. Holmes and Dr. Tran are provisionally licensed psychologists and Licensed Marriage and Family Therapists (LMFTs). That means they’ve completed doctoral-level training (PsyD), which includes advanced clinical training and research. Other clinicians may have a master’s-level license (like LPCs, LMFTs, LCSWs), and while they’re also highly qualified, doctoral-level psychologists typically have more training hours and can provide additional services such as psychological testing or deeper specialization. If you're not sure what type of therapist is the right fit for you, we're happy to chat and help you figure it out.

  • Therapy tends to be ongoing and focuses on emotional and mental health challenges. Behavioral health consultations are short-term and focused on specific health behavior changes—like building sustainable habits for managing diabetes, weight, or blood pressure. These consults are often used alongside medical care and can help you feel more in control of your health without the pressure of weekly therapy. With your permission, we’re happy to coordinate care with your primary care provider (PCP) to ensure that your mental and physical health are supported in a cohesive, well-rounded way. This might include sharing treatment plans, progress updates, or relevant behavioral goals—always with your consent.

  • Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP) is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. It involves gradually facing fears while resisting the urge to do compulsions. Dr. Holmes is trained by the International OCD Foundation and uses ERP to help clients break free from the OCD cycle and regain a sense of agency over their lives. If you’re not sure whether your thoughts or behaviors fall into the OCD category, feel free to reach out—we’re here to help you figure it out.

  • The ERP intake session ($350) is a 90-minute initial appointment specifically designed to dive deep into understanding your experience with OCD. During this session, we’ll complete a thorough assessment of your symptoms, discuss your history and goals, and begin mapping out a personalized treatment plan using Exposure and Response Prevention (ERP), which is the gold-standard approach for OCD. This extended time allows us to get a full picture and set a strong foundation for your care. After the intake, regular ERP sessions ($175) are 50-minute follow-up appointments where we begin the actual exposure work, build skills, and support you through each step of the process. These sessions are paced to your readiness and focus on helping you reduce compulsions, face feared thoughts, and gain freedom from OCD.

  • Dr. Emily Tran accepts insurance and is in-network with several plans. Please visit her page to check which insurance plans are accepted. Dr. Montana Holmes is an out-of-network provider. If you have out-of-network benefits, we can provide a superbill for potential reimbursement. Many clients also choose to pay out of pocket for the increased privacy and flexibility that comes with it.
